NZ Documents Prepared for Overseas Use, Wherever You Live
NZ Document Assist prepares New Zealand documents for use overseas: certificates, apostille or authentication, notary, translation and tracked courier, done in the order your destination country requires. Backed by 15 years of consular experience.
One Wrong Step Can Cost You Weeks
A New Zealand document going overseas can need an apostille or authentication, a Notary Public, a translation and tracked courier, in a specific order. Miss a step or do them out of order and the document is usually sent back, paid for again and delayed again.
We check what the overseas organisation is asking for before anything is sent, then handle each step for you.
It depends on the destination country. We check which one you need before anything is lodged.
Many private and educational documents do. We arrange the Notary Public appointment.
If the destination asks for one, we arrange it with an independent translator.
Tracked courier at every step, returned to you or sent straight to where it needs to go.
Tell us what you have been asked for. Working out the steps is our job.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about getting your New Zealand documents ready for overseas use.
Do I need an apostille or an authentication?
It depends on the country the document is going to. Countries in the Hague Apostille Convention accept an apostille; others need authentication, sometimes with an extra embassy step. We check what your destination requires before anything is lodged.
How long does it take?
An apostille usually takes about 3 weeks, or about 1 week with the urgent service where eligible. Allow extra time if a certificate has to be ordered first or the document needs a notary or translation. We give you a realistic timeframe with your quote.
How much does it cost?
Apostille is all in from NZ$116, government fees included. Every job gets one all-in quote before any work starts, so you know the total up front.
I do not have my original certificate. Can you help?
Yes. As an approved BDM Online organisation, we can order a new New Zealand birth, marriage or death certificate for you and then handle the apostille and delivery.
Can you help if I live overseas?
Yes. You do not need to be in New Zealand. We work by email, phone and courier, and can send your finished documents to you overseas or straight to the receiving office.
What happens to my original documents?
They travel by tracked courier at every step. When the work is done, we return them to you or send them directly to where they need to go.
