Who translates my document?
An independent translation provider completes the translation. NZ Document Assist arranges the agreed services and document handovers. We do not translate or certify documents ourselves.

What does coordination include?
We confirm the provider and services needed, arrange document handovers, and provide updates on the stages we manage.
- Send your requirements. Tell us the document type, languages, destination and deadline.
- Review the quote. We confirm provider costs and any related document services.
- Translation is completed. The independent provider performs the translation and agreed certification.
- Complete the required document stages. We coordinate any notary, apostille or authentication in the agreed sequence.
- Receive your documents. Delivery is by the agreed format and method.
Should translation come before or after an apostille?
The order depends on what the receiving office requires, including whether the apostille itself must be translated. Confirm its instructions before arranging either service.

Does a translation need notarisation?
For a translation included in a DIA apostille or authentication application, DIA can arrange the translation. If you arrange your own translation for that application, DIA requires it to be notarised by a New Zealand Notary Public.
We can arrange an independent notary appointment where required.
Can a translation use DIA’s urgent service?
Applications requiring translation are not eligible for DIA’s urgent apostille or authentication service. We confirm the expected timing for the full process in your quote.

How long does a document translation take?
Timing depends on the language, document length, provider availability and certification requirements. Tell us your deadline so we can request an estimate before work starts.
Can I use a translation I already have?
Share the receiving office’s requirements and details of the existing translation. Its format and certification must meet those requirements; a replacement may not be necessary.
Can you help if I live outside Auckland?
Yes. We coordinate documents by email, phone and courier throughout NZ. Auckland clients can also request in-person assistance by appointment.
