Tell Us What You Have Been Asked to Provide
You do not need to work out whether you need an apostille, authentication, notary or translation before contacting us. Tell us about your document, where it needs to be used and what you have been asked for. We can start from there.
Not Sure What Service You Need? That Is Completely Fine.
Many people contact us because they have been given an overseas document requirement but are not sure what needs to happen next.
You may have been told that a document needs an apostille, authentication, notarisation, translation or certification — or you may simply have been told to prepare a New Zealand document for overseas use.
You do not need to understand the whole process before asking for help.
Tell us what document you have, which country it will be used in, who has requested it and what instructions you have received. If you are not sure what those instructions mean, that is okay too.

Nationwide Assistance
Many cases can be coordinated anywhere in New Zealand using email, phone and courier.
Auckland clients can also ask about in-person administrative assistance by appointment where appropriate.
Already Tried to Work It Out Yourself?
What starts as a request for one document can quickly turn into several different questions and providers.
Different overseas requirements can involve different administrative processes.
Some cases involve an independent Notary Public before another document stage can happen.
Translation may be another separate stage with its own provider and requirements.
Original documents may need to move between several providers, authorities and destinations.
You can often organise these individual services yourself. NZ Document Assist is for people who would rather have help coordinating the practical administrative stages instead of spending their time chasing each part of the process.
Could You Arrange the Process Yourself?
In many cases, yes.
You can contact the relevant authorities and independent providers yourself.
Our service is designed for people who would prefer not to spend their time researching different stages, contacting several providers, tracking documents and trying to work out what happens next.
Questions Before You Contact Us
What if I don't know whether I need an apostille or authentication?
That is fine. Tell us what document you have, where it will be used and what the receiving organisation has told you.
Can I send you the instructions I received?
Yes. Written instructions can be very useful in understanding what the receiving organisation is asking you to provide. Please do not send sensitive identity documents with your initial enquiry.
Do I need to be in Auckland?
No. Many cases can be coordinated throughout New Zealand using email, phone and courier.
Will I know the cost before work starts?
Yes. We explain the administrative service we can provide and give you a quote before agreed work begins. Government, notary, translation, courier and other independent third-party costs may be additional.
Can I organise these services myself?
In many cases, yes. Our service is for people who prefer help coordinating the administrative stages rather than researching, contacting and managing each provider themselves.
NZ Document Assist provides administrative document assistance, coordination and logistics services only. We are not a government agency, law firm, Notary Public, Justice of the Peace service or licensed immigration adviser, and we do not provide legal or immigration advice.
Independent third-party fees are separate unless expressly included in a written quote.
