APOSTILLE HELP FOR AUCKLAND CLIENTS
If you have been told that a New Zealand document needs an apostille for overseas use, you do not need to work through the process alone. Contact NZ Document Assist first. Tell us what document you have, the country where it will be used and what the overseas organisation has asked for. We can help identify the likely pathway and coordinate the administrative steps.
You do not need to know whether it is an apostille, authentication, notary or translation before contacting us. Send us the details and we’ll help you work out the next step.

Auckland apostille assistance without the paperwork headache
NZ Document Assist provides independent administrative help for Auckland clients preparing New Zealand documents for overseas use. Depending on your situation, we can coordinate the apostille application and help organise related notary, translation and document-return requirements.
The government apostille itself is issued by the Department of Internal Affairs Authentication Unit. Our role is to help you understand what is likely to be required and coordinate the administrative process so you are not left trying to piece everything together yourself.
What documents can we help with?
We can assist with many common New Zealand documents used overseas. If you need a birth certificate apostille, marriage certificate apostille, criminal record apostille, education document apostille, power of attorney apostille, or help with divorce or dissolution documents, our specialist guides explain the document-specific issues to check before submission.
Have a different document? Call us on 022 100 3242 or send us the details. We can check the likely process before you start arranging unnecessary certification or paperwork.

Ask NZ Document Assist
Do you actually need an apostille?
Possibly — but not every overseas document uses the apostille pathway. The correct process depends mainly on the destination country and the receiving organisation's requirements. If you are unsure, read our Apostille vs Authentication NZ guide. Some documents need document authentication instead, and some need preparation such as notarisation or translation first.
This is why we recommend contacting us before arranging a JP, notary, translation or other certification. We can help you avoid starting with the wrong step.
Do you need a Notary Public first?
Some documents do and some do not. Where the Department of Internal Affairs requires notarisation for apostille or authentication, current government rules require a New Zealand Notary Public — not a Justice of the Peace or ordinary solicitor certification.
If notarisation is required, we can help coordinate that step through our Notary Coordination service. You can also read our JP vs Notary Public NZ guide and Who Can Certify Documents in NZ?
How much does apostille help cost?
Our Apostille Coordination service starts from NZ$89, with government and other third-party costs separate unless expressly included in your written quote.
The current government fee for one paper or electronic apostille certificate is NZ$37. Eligible urgent processing currently costs an additional NZ$120 government fee. If you are deciding which format may be appropriate, see our Paper vs E-Apostille NZ guide.
Before you spend money on unnecessary steps, contact us for help with your particular documents.
How long does an apostille take?
Current government standard apostille processing is within 15 working days. Eligible urgent apostille and e-apostille applications are processed within 5 working days. Other steps — such as obtaining documents, notarisation, translation or courier delivery — can add time.
We cannot make a government or third-party process faster, but we can help coordinate the steps and reduce avoidable delays caused by starting with the wrong document or process.
Auckland-based help, with nationwide document coordination
NZ Document Assist is Auckland-based, but document assistance does not have to be limited by location. We can coordinate cases online and by post for clients throughout New Zealand as well as Auckland.
For Auckland clients who want to speak with us first, the easiest starting point is simply to call 022 100 3242 or send an enquiry. You can also see How It Works for the practical steps from first contact through document return.
What should you send us?
Keep it simple. Start by telling us:
- what New Zealand document you need to use overseas;
- which country it will be used in; and
- what the overseas organisation has told you it requires, if you have those instructions.
You do not need to diagnose the process yourself. Once we understand the situation, we can tell you what information or documents we need next and explain the likely coordination options.
Contact NZ Document Assist and let us help you work out what your documents need.
