Yes, you can order a New Zealand birth, marriage or death certificate while living overseas. NZ Document Assist orders it for you as an approved BDM Online organisation, checks it’s the version the overseas office will accept, arranges the apostille or authentication if it needs one, and couriers it to your door anywhere in the world. Couriered to Australia from NZ$129 all in. Ordered, apostilled and couriered to the UK from NZ$244 all in. No RealMe account, no trip home, no forms to work out.
You don’t need to know the rules. We do.
Ordering a NZ certificate from abroad is rarely hard because of the ordering. It’s hard because of everything around it: which version the overseas office wants, how recent it has to be, whether it needs an apostille, and getting it across the world before a deadline. Our document specialist spent 15 years in consular work, on the side that receives these documents and decides whether they’re accepted. So we already know what a visa office, citizenship registry, bank or court is going to look for.
You tell us what you need it for. We tell you exactly which certificate fits, then take care of it. That’s the whole job on your side.
Where it usually goes wrong, and why it won’t with us
These are the four things that most often go wrong when a NZ certificate is sorted from abroad. Each one can cost weeks and another international courier.
The wrong document arrives
It’s too old for the visa office
No apostille, or the wrong one
The name doesn’t match your passport
Want to see it happen? Read our real document cases, including a certificate that was too old for a visa by two months.
Which NZ certificate do you need?
Choose the one you’ve been asked for. If you’re not sure, send us the request and we’ll tell you.
Where are you? Our country guides
Each country asks for something slightly different. These guides show what we usually prepare for Kiwis living there.
Somewhere else? See all NZ documents by country, or just tell us where you are.
Is this an official service? How to tell
DIA has warned people about unofficial websites selling New Zealand certificates. That warning is worth taking seriously, so here is exactly what you’re dealing with when you order through us.
What you’re paying us for isn’t the certificate itself. It’s getting the right one, apostilled correctly, to the right address on time, without you having to learn how any of it works.

Frequently asked questions
Can I order a New Zealand birth certificate if I live overseas?
Yes. We order the official NZ birth certificate for you as an approved BDM Online organisation and courier it to you anywhere in the world. Couriered to Australia from NZ$129 all in, or ordered, apostilled and couriered to the UK from NZ$244 all in.
Do I need a RealMe account to order from overseas?
No. Because we order through BDM Online as an approved organisation, you don’t need a RealMe account, a NZ address or a trip home. You sign our 2-minute online authority instead.
Is the certificate official?
Yes. It’s the official certificate issued by Births, Deaths and Marriages, the same legal document you would get ordering it yourself. It is not a copy or a printout.
Can you courier the certificate to any country?
Yes. We courier worldwide with tracking, to you or directly to the embassy, lawyer, registry or office that asked for it.
Does my NZ certificate need an apostille?
It depends on the country and who asked for it. Many overseas governments, courts and registries need an apostille or authentication. Tell us the country and we confirm the right one before you pay, then arrange it in the same job.
Can I order a certificate for a parent, child or estate?
Often, yes. Tell us your relationship to the person on the certificate. If anything extra is needed, we tell you before you pay.
How do I pay from overseas?
By card through our secure Stripe checkout, in New Zealand dollars. Your bank converts the amount to your currency.
What if I don’t know all the details?
Give us the best information you have. We check the record with you before ordering, so you don’t pay for a certificate that can’t be found.
